South West Solid Waste Commission Forestry Bursary Award Announced

The South West Solid Waste Commission (SWSWC) announced, at a recent meeting of the Commission, that Joel Lambert of St. Stephen has been awarded the 2011-2012 Forestry Bursary. Joel is a 2009 graduate of St. Stephen High School and is attending the Maritime College of Forest Technology.

The South West Solid Waste Commission Forestry Bursary, valued at $2,000, is available to area students in their second or subsequent year of post-secondary education.

Monies for the scholarship are derived from SWSWC’s sale of timber from their managed forest. Other proceeds derived from timber sales support the nature trails located throughout the 1,000-acre site.
